We closed our last 'bricks and mortar' store over 20 years ago. Before this, 50% of our sales went into rent, shop fittings, government charges and wages. Since going 100% online we have been able to sell our opals at less than 50% the retail stores have to charge and we would much prefer to pass these savings onto you. Not only do you get these savings, you are also covered under Australian law, if it's not what you expected (changed your mind, bought the wrong colour etc.) you get all your money back and that is something most retail shops will NOT do for you.

All our opals and opal jewellery are in stock right now, so there is never any delay in shipping your precious purchase. We send every day excluding weekends and Australian public holidays. For domestic purchases your item will on most cases arrive the next day, for international customers delivery to most parts of the world will usually arrive in 2 to 14 days (depending on service selected).

Under Australian law, any item you purchase from any online store must be offered with a money back guarantee if when you receive it it is not as described. We take this guarantee further and since 2009 extended the offer of a full refund, (including your free shipping) even if you just don't like it, bought the wrong colour (e.g. white gold instead of yellow gold), or even received an unexpected electricity bill and can no longer afford it, just send it back for a full refund.

Just contact us within 7 days of receipt and we'll give you instructions and return address, refunds are given in the same manner as payment was made, sorry, we cannot refund FedEx express shipping charges. Please note that only items that are in their original conditions may be returned. Any product that has been used or worn may not be returned, custom orders or altered items we will honor with a credit note you can use towards your next purchase.

Our absolutely free shipping service is handled by Australia Post but we also offer FedEx for urgent deliveries. All domestic purchases are sent Australia Post Express with a 1 or 2 day delivery to most Australian addresses. For overseas purchases below US$100 we send insured by Australia Post Airmail and for purchases over US$100 we send insured by Australia Post Airmail with online tracking. Delivery to most parts of the world takes 5 to 10 working days, this time may be extended due to your countries Customs and these possible delays are out of our control.

I NEED IT QUICK.......For expedited shipping we offer a 2 to 4 day delivery to most parts of the world by FedEx for only US$75. FedEx will also handle the clearance of your opal item through your countries Customs, saving you any paperwork hassles. FedEx option can be selected at checkout.

all our solid opals are cut by David, a gifted opal cutter with over 40 years experience. Our jewellery is crafted by qualified goldsmiths and resizing (if necessary) is done on the premises. Each item is checked by two individual staff prior to shipping, allowing us to guarantee all our items against faulty workmanship and in an event happening we will not only repair free of charge and re-ship for free, we will also pay for your shipping costs for returning it, that is how confident we are in our products.

all our opals were mined in Australia. We do not sell Welo opal, Ethiopian opal, treated opal, smoked or heated opals. All our opals, be they solid, doublet or triplet come from mines in Australia and every item purchased from Just Opal comes with an Authenticity card stating so.

we prefer the PayPal gateway for payments. You can use your credit card, bank transfer or PayPal balance to make safe and secure payment and you do not need to be a PayPal or Just Opal member. We also accept direct deposit for you purchase, both PayPal and direct deposit details will be shown at checkout.

if you are concerned you're going to miss out on that special piece before you have all the funds together (remember no two precious opals are alike) we offer Lay-Away / Layby and now Afterpay so you can secure that awesome opal piece before someone else grabs it. Just send us an email and we'll set it up for you.

The most accurate way to get your finger size is to have a jewelers measure your finger. You can tell them your wife/girlfriend, husband/boyfriend told you to come in and get your finger sized as they want to buy you a surprise gift. If you need to be more secretive try sneaking an existing ring away and get that measured, perhaps get it cleaned and polished while your at it for an extra surprise. The other way is to buy a set of the plastic ring sizers off the internet and measure your finger, but this is really a last resort as they are not very accurate.

We love to make that special piece for our customers using one of our stunning opal gems. Not all of our opals are photographed and on the website, not all of our opals have been finished cut and not all of our opals have been set into jewellery. So if you have something in mind please send us an email or send an 'ask a question'.

No 'if's or buts', if you don't like it we don't want you to keep it, that would be horrible. Just contact us within 7 days of receipt and we'll give you instructions and return address for a full refund or if you prefer an exchange, (sorry, we cannot refund FedEx express shipping charges).

Please note that only items that are in their original conditions may be returned. Any product that has been used or worn may not be returned, custom orders or altered items we will honor with a credit note you can use towards your next purchase.

Every country in the world has different rules. Some have import duties, some sales tax and some import duties and sales tax, but there is also usually a threshold where you can import up to a value without paying any duties or taxes. We strongly recommend you check with your government website to ascertain what taxes and duties (if any) you may incur, these charges are out of our control.

Yes, all our opals, be they solid, doublet or triplet come from mines in Australia. They are never treated, smoked, heated or dyed, just shaped and polished to a perfect luster.

Wouldn't be horrible if they didn't! Yes all our jewellery and loose opals come gift boxed ..... and gift wrapped too.
